The end of Camp NaNoWriMo

Camp Nanowrimo

As anyone who follows this blog will know, I attempted to use Camp NaNoWriMo this year to outline my current novel project, The Kraken and the Clock Tower. And I succeeded in the end. But as I came up on my last couple of days, things got a bit intense and… sweary. Below, I share some of my favourite excerpts, mostly spoiler free, and NSFW.

“There is a fucking huge action scene where the riot police are forced to back down…”

“There is an even fucking bigger action scene as the SPOILERS are deployed.”

“Some stuff happens here…”

“Indigo breaks into Silhouette City, and it is fucked up.”

“They travel west rather than east, going through the sunken cities. Make this bit fucking creepy. It’ll be fucking awesome.”

“Some shit goes down in this bit.”

“She has two Kraken hunters, the Warpledge and the Seabeast and they are fucking badass as fuck.”

So! As you can see, it’s a bit loose in places, and I got sort of salty in others. Thankfully, that’s what redrafting is for! Or, alternatively, now I have most of my major events in place and in just about the order I want them to occur in, I might start writing properly and use the outline as more of a guideline than an actual hard rule. We’ll have to see. I’m still figuring all this stuff out.

In other, more minor news, I’m addicted to buying badges for my bag. My newest acquisition is a pin of my favourite house sigil from George R.R Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire; the Kraken sigil of House Greyjoy.

We do not sow

We do not sow

I’m sure you’ll agree it looks pretty good next to my Time Kraken and Dark Tower pins.

As always, thank you for reading. I will be back on Sunday with the next in my Rewatch of the Caribbean series, Dead Man’s Chest.
