It has once again been a while since I have updated… So here’s an update!
It’s that time of year again. My birthday has just passed, the nights are drawing in. Summer is a hazy memory and Halloween decorations are being dusted off. But for this writer, it means only one thing. NaNoWri…
Wait, hold on a second… *checks notes* Ohh! Camp NaNoWriMo!
I know it was a long time ago now, especially since the drug fuelled fuck nightmare that was New Year’s Eve (just kidding, I sat around watching Youtube videos in my pyjamas), but last November I attempted once again to participate in NaNoWriMo. Much unlike the previous year’s effort, I failed quite spectacularly. Luckily, I’m somewhat capable of learning from my failures, and I’m going to talk about what I learned.
November is officially over, and with it NaNoWriMo. So, it’s time for another wrap up post. I might as well get it out of the way first as last, I didn’t reach the target. I got to 39,020 around a week ago, and stopped there. So, what happened?
Confession time. At the moment this is published, I’m behind. Not by much, only 750 words or so. But still, I’m behind. So let’s have a look at the breakdown and see if we can find the cause.
Haha, and you thought the terrible stock subtitles were going to stop with the October posts! I’m afraid not, though I am running out fast, so if someone wants to do me a solid, hop on my contact form and send me a list of your favourites. That’d be peachy, thanks.
Well then, here we are, a week in already. What do I have to show? Anyone who was around for these last year will remember that one of my favourite things (aside from writing of course) is playing with numbers and cell formulae in Excel. I dug out my old blank spreadsheet from last year, and the results are in!
I meant to do more of these to be honest but… well, disaster happened, you guys. As you know from before I had my idea (tidally locked planet, vampires etc) in place. Well, I was outlining it and a pretty big realisation hit me.
I hated my plot.
